Jessica graduated with a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of International Relations from Bond University in 2011, being awarded the Dean’s Law Award for her achievements in her final semester. Jessica was then admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia in January 2012.

Jessica has practised solely in body corporate matters her entire career and has acted for some of the largest and the smallest community titles schemes within South East Queensland. Jessica is passionate about pragmatic solutions to her client’s problems and prides herself on her dispute resolution skills. As a Committee Member in a community titles scheme, she understands the stresses and thanklessness tasks most committee members experience.

Jessica is on the Legislative Review Committee for the SCA in Queensland, ensuring she is not only up to date with current laws, but pending future changes as well.

Jessica holds a Bachelor of Laws and Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice. Jessica has been working in law for around 10 years and has practised exclusively in Body Corporate law for the last three years. Prior to working in Body Corporate law, Jessica practised in personal injury law, where she advocated for the rights of injured individuals.

Jessica is passionate about helping people and finds it easy to empathise with people who are facing challenging problems or scenarios. She feels privileged that her work enables her to do that by problem solving and advocating for Committees and Bodies Corporate. Jessica particularly enjoys preparing written submissions to advocate for the position of bodies corporate in the Commissioner’s Office, QCAT and Queensland Courts.

Jessica loves spending time outdoors. In particular, she enjoys camping, surfing, skateboarding and hiking. However, her hobbies are ever-changing as she loves trying new things, with golf being her latest challenge.

Jessica is excited about gaining more knowledge and experience in Body Corporate law and continuing to tackle new challenges in that area. Jessica sees herself becoming a key advisor to bodies corporate and envisions a long-lasting career.

Lauren Jones

In 2018 Lauren graduated a Bachelor of Laws with Class 1 Honours from Griffith University on the Gold Coast. Her honours thesis included empirical research into the use of technology by legal practitioners in small and medium firms, and the findings have since been published in a journal article. Lauren is passionate about how technology can be used to produce more efficient and cost-effective legal services to our clients.

Lauren’s passion for Body Corporate law stems from a desire to help people through difficult times, and an understanding that a person’s home should be a place of refuge and not a cause of stress or unhappiness. Lauren understands that by assisting with a body corporate matter, we are assisting occupants in being able to enjoy their home to its full potential.

Gemma joins the Cannon + Co team as our Research and Administration Clerk. With a background in Business Management and now studying a Human Resources Diploma, her organisational and administrative skills will keep the firm thriving.

After graduating in 2014 with a Master’s degree in Sports Development Management, Gemma applied herknowledge of funding and not-for profit organisations through the procurement sector. Now working for Cannon + Co Law, Gemma’s skills and experience will support the ever-busy office.

Outside of the office Gemma enjoys an active lifestyle including camping, hiking and rock climbing. Gemma is also an avid gardener and enjoys creating and sharing meals from what she grows in her garden.
